Namsan Tower beckons travelers from across the globe to the highest point in the city of Seoul. Built in 1969 to broadcast both local and international TV and radio channels, this iconic landmark offers a wealth of experiences to its visitors. Venture to the observation deck where 360-degree panoramic views of the city await you. The tower also boasts numerous dining options, photo-taking hot spots, and scenic hiking trails along the Seoul City Wall. Colorful Love Locks adorn the outdoor railings as a symbol of love and affection, creating a vibrant tapestry of romance against the backdrop of Seoul’s skyline.

Travel Tips

  • Beautiful during the bloom of the Spring Cherry Blossoms and the Autumn foliage.
  • There are many hiking courses, but for a more relaxing time ride the cable car to the top of the mountain. From there it is a short walk up a set of stairs to reach the tower.
  • Entrance to the Observatory is located on a lower floor (Plaza P0/B1-Lobby) and can be tricky to find. (We got so lost on both of our visits!) Ask for directions at the ticket booth and they will help direct you to the entrance.
  • Don’t forget to visit the famous Sky Bathrooms where you can enjoy the view while taking care of business!

Address

English: 105, Namsangongwon-gil, Yongsan-gu, Seoul

Hangeul: 서울특별시 용산구 남산공원길 105

This really is a must-see location in Seoul and was a highlight during our travels. We had fun walking along the many terraces and decks, while attempting to take the perfect selfie with the full tower in the background. Though, while using the Sky Bathroom, I’m not quite sure who was more traumatized—the city or me!

You can see the Namsan tower from everywhere in Seoul.  We enjoyed visiting it so much on our first trip that we returned there again on our second visit.  On a clear day, the panoramic views of the city are unmatched!  On our second visit we took the cable car which eliminated the long uphill walk.  A definite “must see” on your visit to Seoul!
