When I first brought up this idea to Mom, I was certain she would say no, and for a brief moment, she looked at me like I was crazy. I was shocked she agreed and said that it sounded like a fun once-in-a-lifetime experience! While our friends and family consider us daring for taking on this adventure, I believe this is by far is one of the coolest things we’ve ever done together. I practiced so hard for months climbing up every set of stairs I could find in preparation for this climb. I will never forget sitting down and dangling my feet over the edge of the bridge, perched atop one of the tallest structures in the world, and feeling as if I was suspended in midair.

When we were planning our trip to South Korea we each wrote down the things we wanted to do and then combined them. My list included taking a stroll through the Garden of Morning Calm and visiting a Hanok tea house. My daughter’s list was “climb the tower of death”. I thought she was crazy. I’m not afraid of heights, but the thought of squeezing myself into a jumpsuit and harness and then climbing over 250 stairs–10 flights of which were outside on top of the building–did not sound like my idea of fun. It was amazing! Sure, it was hot, and the stairs were tough, but the view of the city was more than worth the effort. I would definitely do it again!
