As we walked through Seongsu-dong, it was easy to understand why this neighborhood has become such an Instagram hotspot in recent years. The neighborhood has tons of trendy new shops and cafés and Seoul Forest, which is a must-see, is located nearby. We were able to experience this neighborhood from the perspective of a local which made it easy for me to picture what it would feel like to live here. If I ever have the opportunity to visit South Korea for an extended period of time, this is the neighborhood where I would like to stay.

After having expressed an interest in finding affordable housing for a longer stay on our next visit to Seoul (a few months stay), our friend gave us a tour of Seongsu-dong. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and we really enjoyed the area. Although we saw lots of automotive repair shops, (our friend is into cars), the area is also home to music studios, event venues, TV channels, lots of cafés and restaurants, as well as a fashion street, and lots of shops. The location is great, with Seoul Forest and the Seongsu Han River Park, and metro stops being close by. The area is young and vibrant and is a good option for finding “full option” (furnished) long-term housing.
